The City of Denton is beautiful and prosperous. And located just north of Dallas Fort Worth area of Texas. Notably, with a population of over 113 thousand, they are in the top 25 fastest growing cities in the US for their size.

Ron Forsythe is the very busy Engineering Manager in charge of plans for the city’s buildings and roads.

“Do to centralizing of our offices we have at least one of every filing system on the market; we have Flatfile Cabinets, Masterfile- Pinfile type cabinets and of course the Ulrich Planfiles. Of all of these the Ulrich Planfile is by far the easiest to use.

Besides being easy to use it keeps the plans in great shape I have used the Ulrich Planfiles for years and when we need additional map or plan storage we call Ulrich. We appreciate their friendly and efficient customer service,” says Ron.

Features that make the Planfile blueprint storage cabinets easy to use.

Moreover, the fact that the Planfile cabinet is easy to use is the best feature for the City of Denton. For one thing, you can performs all filing at waist height, unlike flat file cabinets. Certainly, the Planfile’s 60 “tuff-one” folders organize and protect these important documents.

Notably the best feature of the Planfile blueprint storage cabinets is the spring compression system. Because of this unique system, the documents are easily retrieved without having to remove the folder from the cabinet. Equally it is just as easy to refile the documents. Brookfield Renewable Power

Recently, Paul Austin from Brookfield Renewable Power called us concerning the availability of a couple of small parts to repair an Ulrich Minifile that was damaged during a move. We sent Paul the parts and his email back to us tells a lot about our products and the way our customers feel about their Ulrich files.

Paul wrote:

I really appreciate you doing this. You mentioned doing this for me because we use Ulrich. Thought I’d let you know we have 10 Planfiles, (# 4836) and 3 Minifiles. We’ve never had a problem with these and I’ve been using them for 23 years. Over that time period, they’ve been used almost every day, and some days they’ll be accessed dozens of times in a day.
I don’t know how old they are, but this is a good example of “you get what you pay for.”
Thanks,
Paul Austin

Plan Storage Cabinet built to last at NASA

NASA chooses sturdy feature filled Ulrich plan storage cabinet

Plan Storage Cabinet for Critical Mission

In fact, during the late 1960s and early 70s, people said. “If you want to go to the moon, you first have to go through Hancock County.”
During 1961 the US entered the space race with a mission to put a man on the moon. And they choose Hancock Mississippi as the site for rocket testing.  Making Stennis Space Center in Hancock, the heart of the space program. Of course it began with the Saturn V rocket for the Apollo program and continues today.

Since 1965,  NASA’s choice for plan storage cabinets have been Ulrich Planfiles. To begin with, these cabinets are fire resistant and water resistant. As a result, they provide much needed protection to these important engineering drawing. In addition, a key lock and internal hing keep the engineering drawings secure. Not to mention, the 60 “Tuff-one” folders provide great document protection. Finally, spring compression system and folders protected and organized the engineering drawings.

Jeanne Keller, Document Coordinator for the Central Engineering Files, says the following:

“Thank You for your help. CEF (Central Engineering Files) has had 8 of these plan files since 1965 and we now have 33 files in all. They are still in good working order. You have a great Product and when I need more files I will be sure to order from Ulrich.”

Southwestern Elementary School in Lakewood, NY recently moved from a building that had housed the school for over 70 years to a new structure. The new lot is adjacent to the middle school and high school with greatly improved technology and facilities to house the K-5th graders that attend.

What first looked like a need to merely contain the prints that had been used in the most recent construction, quickly became an archival project.

Planfiles
Two Planfiles hold all of Southwestern’s current drawings with plenty of room for future projects

Prints were found that involved water, electrical, structural and heating, drawings spanning back decades and numerous elementary, middle and high school buildings for the Southwestern Central School district.

Ulrich Planfiling donated several Planfiles to aid the school district in organizing and maintaining historical documents that highlighted the school’s changes over many years of operation.

Two Planfiles hold all of Southwestern’s current drawings with plenty of room for future projects.

The drawings were organized and installed into the Planfiles by Ulrich employees, a project which was no small feat. The newest drawings are referenced frequently to maintain the current facility and make any necessary changes. The easy accessibility and organization makes such upkeep possible for the numerous contractors and laborers that work on the building.

At only 11 inches deep Ulrich Cadfile Cabinet stores active projects in any office area. Keeping important drawings close at hand.

Filing the same number of documents in flat file cabinets would have required six flat file sections. The flat file cabinets would have required twice the floor space and cost over 25% more than Ulrich.

At only 11 inches deep Ulrich Cadfile Cabinet stores active projects in any office area. Keeping important drawings close at hand.

While increased storage is a plus at the new Southwestern Elementary, floor space is readily available due to the space saving technology utilized by Ulrich’s vertical filing system. Lastly, for the newest and oldest drawings the cabinets provide fire and water resistance; therefore, keeping the documents intact for years to come.

The Town of Busti

Town Clerk filing
Town Clerk, Diane VanDewark, appreciates how much easier the Ulrich Planfile has made her job.

The Town of Busti, in Western New York State, currently makes use of an Ulrich Planfile to house important plans and area maps. After having great success with the model, further documentation has created the necessity for another file, and Ulrich was again their choice.

“It is the perfect place to store our Town Maps, Water District Maps, Town Building Maps and our Project Plans. The Ulrich Planfile protects our drawings keeping them flat and in great condition.”-Diane Van Dewark, Town Clerk, Town of Busti

The cabinet keeps the numerous types and kinds of drawings easily accessible and well organized. Ulrich’s accompanying file folders divide the maps and plans into groups and labels them accordingly. Index cards placed in the lid of the unit provide further ease in locating the desired material. The frequent use of these documents make Diane’s job much easier as Ulrich’s vertical filing system makes large drawings easy to access, view and put back in the appropriate order.

Space saving design requires less than ½ the space of flat drawer files.
Planfiles are easy to use and documents are maintained in great condition.
Mobility, fire and water resistance at such an affordable price provide safety and value.
